“The Hatf-IX Nasr is a short range missile and it is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.,” the ISPR said. “The missile has a range of 60 kilometers,” it added.
“The test was witnessed by Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), Chairman NESCOM Mr Irfan Burney, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, Senior Officers from the Strategic forces and scientists and engineers of strategic organizations,” the statement added.
The Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), has termed the NASR Missile as a weapon of peace and said that the test was a major development which would consolidate Pakistan’s deterrence capability at all levels of the threat spectrum, thereby ensuring peace in the region.
Pakistan had test fired nuclear capable Hatf-III Ghaznavi missile on May 10.
President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani congratulated all scientists and engineers on the successful launch, and the accuracy of the missile in reaching the target.
