Suu Kyi’s movie to be premiered April 13

Suu Kyi'sHOLLYWOOD: Luc Besson’s The Lady will be premiering on April 13 at the Toronto Film Festival.

Leading lady, Aung San Suu Kyi, is played by Michelle Yeoh, and starring opposite her as her husband Michael Aris will be David Thewlis.

‘The Lady’ presents an extra-ordinary story of Burma’s pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi and the academic and writer Michael Aris. Based on a true story, the movie highlights the struggle of Aung San Suu Kyi against political turmoil in Burma.

It is also the epic story of the peaceful quest of the woman who is at the core of Burma’s democracy movement. Despite distance, long separations, and a dangerously hostile regime, the love between her and Michael Aris endures until the very end.

It is a story of devotion and human understanding set against a backdrop of political turmoil that continues till today.
