Provincial Finance Minister Engineer Humayun Khan unveiled a Rs300-billion budget for the year 2012-2013 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.K-P government announces Rs300 billion budget for 2012-13

The session, held in the provincial assembly, was chaired by Speaker K-P assembly Kiramatullah Khan.

Once the budget is released, a raise of 20% is expected in the salaries of the government officials.

Four percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be spent on education, while scholarships for students who cannot attend school in Kohistan and Torghar will be introduced.

Last year, a budget of Rs294 billion was proposed.

Expenditure details of the next year were as follows:

Health: Rs10.33 billion

Education: Rs6.07 billion

Police: Rs23.56 billion

Irrigation: Rs2 billion

Vocational education: Rs1.73 billion

Environment: Rs1.11 billion

Development: Rs2.45 billion

Pension: Rs210 million

Provincial government salaries: Rs83.83 billion

Wheat subsidy: Rs2.5 billion

Loans: Rs9 billion
