The Supreme Court issued a detailed verdict against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in contempt of court case on Tuesday.
The 77-page detailed order has been prepared by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and additional 6-page note has also been attached with the judgment.
A seven-member bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 26 (Thursday) convicted Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in contempt of court proceedings over his refusal to obey an order to write to the authorities in Switzerland to re-open corruption case against President Asif Ali Zardari. He was sentenced for 30 seconds – the time taken by the bench of Judges to adjourn the Court.
Gilani was convicted and sentenced under Article 63 (1) (g) of the constitution.
Following the detailed judgment, the government will face renewed pressure from the opposition parties demanding National Assembly Speaker’s action against the Prime Minister after his conviction in contempt case by the Supreme Court.
