KARACHI: Some unknown culprits gang raped a teenage girl first and later on killed her in Shah Faisal Colony of Karachi, media reports.
According to the neighbors, four culprits jumped into a house during power break and gang raped a teenaged, 16-year old, girl Lado first and then squeezed her neck to death and fled away amid the darkness.
The local residents staged stern protest against gang rape and girl’s killing; they stormed into local police station to file a case and demand arrest of the culprits involved in the incident.
Deceased Lado was youngest amongst five brothers and sisters; she was sleeping alone in the house when culprits intruded into that and killed her after rape.
One suspected accused was captured and handed over to the police by the neighbors but he denies of committing any crime while local people are not satisfied over police action in the case.
The police have filed a case on plea of girl’s father and launched search for arresting the culprits.
KARACHI: Zulfiqar Cheema has been appointed as new Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh. Cheema will replace Shahid Nadeem Baloch.
The decision came following the special cabinet session held to deliberate on the law and order situation in Karachi.
Prior to his appointment, Cheema had been serving as the IG of the National Highway and Motorway Police.
Cheema also served as the Director General (DG) Immigration and Passport and was credited with clearing the backlog of passports within one month.
During his tenure as RPO Gujranwala, Cheema arrested several key criminals and significantly decreased the crime rate.
Meanwhile, the appointment has been criticized by the PPP with Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon saying it was imposed on Sindh. “Nawaz Sharif has started the politics of 1990s. We consider this as the beginning of Governor Rule in the province,” he said.
