Jamsed Dasti injured in stone attack

He was attacked when he addressing the campaign rally of his brother who is contesting for NA-77 in by-elections to be held on August 22.
Dasti had won from NA-177 in the May 11 elections by beating a number of noted and influential feudal lords of the area, but had vacated the seat in favour of NA-178.
But before he could address the rally, two unidentified people attacked Dasti with a sharp objects. While they missed, they managed to inflicted two wounds on his head, causing his head to bleed profusely. When the two men missed, their accomplices pelted Dasti with stones.
At least six of the attackers were detained by people who had gathered to listen to Dasti, but four of their accomplices managed to escape.
Despite the injury, Dasti continued with the address after receiving first aid. He was later shifted to THQ Kot Adu for treatment where Doctors said that he was not seriously hurt and was being given first aid.
Police reached the rally venue shortly afterwards and were speaking to the organisers to secure custody of the assailants.
Dasti blamed Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Noor Rabbani Khar for the assassination attempt who is also contesting for NA-177.
Dasti is supporting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for PP-254.

MNA Jamshed Dasti quits PPPMUZAFFARGARH: PPP MNA from Muzaffargarh Jamshed Dasti on Friday announced his decision to resign from the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP).

Speaking to reporters here, he said that he would take part in the next general election as an independent candidate.

“I have decided to resign from the PPP. I have not applied for party ticket,” he said.

He said that only 1200 people turned up at a public meeting held by Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Hina Rabbani Khar today. – SAMAA

Women paraded naked over marriage proposal in Muzaffargarh

MUZAFFARGARH: Two women were allegedly paraded naked around in the Khangarh area here when they took a weeding proposal to the house of a girl.women paraded naked in muzaffargarh

According to reports, the women were paraded naked by the family of a girl, for whom they have brought proposal of marriage.

TV reports said that Adeela and Shabbir loved each other and wanted to get married. The family of the girl was angry over the friendship between the boy and the girl.

Father and uncle of the girl invited Sakina, mother of boy, and another woman. Both the women was subjected to torture and paraded naked in the streets of Liaqaut Adda of Khan Garh area.

Locals said the accused also made a video of the naked women. Police said both the accused have been arrested.

COAS inspects Army Air Defence Units in Multan

army air defenceMULTAN: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani visited Muzaffargarh ranges and witness on-going activities of Army Air Defence Units, says ISPR press release issued here on Thursday.

The day’s activities involved live firing several air defence weapons on the inventory of Pakistan Army. These included short range surface to Air Missiles, Shoulder Fired Weapons and Anti-Air Craft Guns. The COAS appreciated the standards displayed by the weapons crews of different units of Army Air Defence.

He emphasised the importance of Air Defence in today’s warfare and the need to remain abreast with modern requirements as regards up-gradation of equipments, as well as training to defeat a wide threat spectrum.

Earlier, on arrival at Multan, the COAS was received by Corps Commander Multan Lt General Shafqaat Ahmed.
