A three-judge bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Thursday in its order warned the new PM, whose predecessor Raza Gilani was sent packing for defying court orders, that the court court take could appropriate action if the letter was not written.
The court said Attorney General Irfan Qadair’s statement was not satisfactory. The AG had prayed the court that the hearing be adjourned for two months till the end of summer vacation as he was going abroad.
The AG told the court that the the law ministry was asked to give its recommendations and decision would be taken as per constitution after the cabinet approved the ministry’s suggestions over the letter.
The court said it had also taken note of Information Minister’s press conference after a cabinet meeting that the constitution didn’t allow to write such a letter.
The apex court also reproduced its previous orders which it had pass for the ex prime minsiter Raja Pervez Ashraf, ruling that he was asked to write with out seeking suggestions from his advisers.
