Ali, a private student hailing from Hafizabad district, is the eldest son of labourer Nazeer Ahmed among eleven siblings and works at a Tandoor in Lahore. Ali, who says he sleeps for not more than four hours a day, secured 688 marks in total.

On receiving the good news, his parents also arrived in Lahore from Hafizabad to celebrate, who found it hard to believe how well their son had done in exams. Customers and co-workers at the Tandoor told Express News that Ali was a hard-working person.

Ali hopes to continue with his studies and pursue a major in English, but regrets that the government has failed to provide students with opportunities and financial assistance – one of the reasons he claims he appeared as a private candidate.
