PESHAWAR: Minister of Information for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has rejected the self announcement for Ramadan moon sight as Pakistan’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is responsible for the work.
The minister has refused to accept any announcement pertaining moon sight for the commencement of Holy month and Eid festival by anyone rather than government’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Provincial government of KPK decided on June 3 to show unification with Pakistan on two religious events including Holy Ramadan and Eid.
KPK Minister of Religious Affairs Habib ur Rehman said that everyone who is willing to provide evidence of sighting moon can contact Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Habib ur Rehman added that moon sighting is necessary for commencement of Ramadan fasting and for celebration of Eid if we follow the order of the Holy Quran.
Earlier, Top government officials have contacted religious leadership of the province to commence Ramadan’s fasting on same day with Pakistan.
KPK Minister of Religious Affairs Habib ur Rehman has called an special meeting of Islamic scholars across the province including Mufti Shahaab Ud Din of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan.
KPK Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzak said that government is also trying unification of people across the province to celebrate Eid with Pakistan.
