His nomination papers were approved by the election commission here on Monday for the Senate seat fell vacant after he resigned over dual nationality issue.
A notification has also been issued in this regard.
Talking to media on Monday, he thanked President Asif Ali Zardari and his party for reposing confidence in him by awarding party ticket for the Senate.
Shortly after he was elected the Senator, he put up stout defence of dual nationality and said local passport help Pakistani expatriates and they should be allowed to vote and run for election.
He said he resigned from the seat as he was being targeted by his political rivals, especially Nawaz Sharif for his dual nationality.
It is to mention here that, Rehman Malik still face threat to his Senate membership as he had no proved in the court that he had left his UK nationality.
