CM Punjab inaugurates Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy Park

Solar PowerBAHAWALPUR: The Quaid-e-Azam solar energy park has been inaugurated in Cholistan that envisages an estimated investment of Rs200 billion.

The 1000-megawatt solar energy project, spread over 11,000 acres in Cholistan desert, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday.

In his address to the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said that the government is taking practical steps for the progress and development of the province.

Sharif said that 1000 megawatt electricity will be generated through solar energy in the first phase, adding that investment worth more than Rs200 billion is being made in the project.

The chief minister said the park will supply power to Bahawalpur and other cities of Punjab.

Pakistan PM’s website gets record number of hits

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office has finally got its own website that is getting a record number of hits every day.Congratulation Prime Minister

The website, available at pmo.gov.pk, is an initiative of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to make his office more accessible and interactive.

The website was officially announced by Sharif during his address to the nation last week, when he also unveiled a number of schemes for youths. It became fully functional on Monday.

In four days since Monday, the website has got nearly five lakh hits.

“We were a bit apprehensive and wanted to wait for some more time but the Prime Minister was very keen. Since then we have received a record number of hits,” an official in the Prime Minister’s Office told .

The website has a link to Sharif’s youth programme, where users can register themselves and give feedback.

Over 1.5 lakh users have registered and the youth programme has received over 82,000 suggestions, the official said.

The website, like that of the Indian Prime Minister’s Office, features photos, videos and messages of Sharif along with latest press releases.

“One can get everything that he wants to know about the Prime Minister, from his meetings with world leaders to his domestic interactions, on this website,” the official said.

The website was made after studying the format in other countries.

Sharif is also on Twitter but his younger brother, Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, is more active on the micro-blogging site.

While Shahbaz’s Twitter account is at times updated by his friend, sources say he updates his Facebook page by himself.

Shahbaz Sharif announces financial assistance for position holder student of Kasur

Mian Shahbaz SharifLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has announced financial assistance for meeting the educational expenditure of a student Haroon of Kasur who has achieved prominent position in matriculation examination.

According to TheNewsTribe’s correspondent from Punjab capital city Lahore, Haroon is the son of a local plumber.

The Chief Minister said that the students like Haroon are a precious asset of the nation who despite financial problems achieved prominent position in examinations through their hard work and determination.

“All problems can be overcome with courage and steadfastness.”

Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the encouragement of talented girl and boy students and not only educational scholarships are being given to them for studying at prestigious educational institutions but they are also being sent on study tour abroad.

The Chief Minister also congratulated the father of Haroon.

Turkish company will invest in energy sector: Punjab CM
