Peshawar: Blast at Qissa Khwani Bazar killing 28 people

PESHAWAR: Blast occurred in Meena bazaar near Qussa Khwani Bazaar in the whereabouts of All Saints Church. The church was blasted last Sunday killing Christians who were returning from prayers.blast peshawar

Peshawar has been the victim of continuous terrorist activities, last Sunday twin blasts occurred on All Saints Church. Today another bomb blast in the whereabouts of All Saints Church near Qissa Khwani Bazar, at the time when prayers were in progress.

According to The News Tribe Correspondent, the blast occurred in Meena Bazar Peshawar near a police station in a parked car. Police and support services teams have reached the spot where blast took place. Twenty Eight people killed and more than 30 people injured in the incident.

California house explosion rocks Riverside locality

californiaRIVERSIDE: Powerful explosion occurred in a house situated on Friday at Riverside city of California state and heavy fire erupted in the incident.

Firefighters have reached the incident site and continued spraying water on flames, however, no casualties reported till yet.

Firefighters continued to spray water on flames Friday morning after an explosion and fire at a Riverside house.

Details regarding the cause of the blast were not immediately available, but an initial investigation indicated there was a gas leak. The explosion destroyed the structure and left debris scattered in the neighborhood.

A neighbor who lives about a half-mile from the home heard and felt the explosion. His house shook from the blast.

“It sounded like someone dropped a truck from a helicopter — boom,” said Gary Wolfenberger.

Sindh Universities Bill 2013: govt transfers power to Cheif Minister

sindh government billKarachi: Sindh government has removed 2 vice chancellors of prominent universities on Wednesday promptly after signing of amended universities bill 2013.

Acting Governor of Sindh, Agha Siraj Durrani, has signed Sindh Universities Laws Act 2013 today in absence of Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan.

Sindh Universities Laws Act 2013 transferred administrative powers of governmental universities from Governor to Chief Minister with full authorities for appointments of Vice Chancellors, Registrars and Finance Secretary.

The newly imposed bill allowed the CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah for the appointments of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) directors instead of the varsity’s Board of Directors (BoD).

According to the amendment bill, no one can be elected as Vice Chancellor for third time which resulted termination of two vice chancellors from their posts.

The terminated vice chancellors including Professor Masood Hameed from Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and Professor Qadeer Rajput from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET).

Police to arrest Wasim Akram on keeping fiancee at his house without Nikah?

wasim akramLAHORE: Police should take action against former skipper Wasim Akram for keeping his fiancee Shaniera Thompson at his residence without proper marriage or Nikah, says a scholar.

Talking at a programme regarding the cultural and traditional view of keeping a fiance at the same residence prior to Nikah, Mufti Abdul Qawi says that had it be a poor man then police would not tolerate it for a while.

The laws of the country doesn’t allow to keep a woman at one’s house without proper marriage and police could take action on complaint.

“Being a national hero and services in a field don’t allow you to violate the national laws and Islamic injunctions on the issue,” he further said.

Wasim Akram had brought Ms. Thompson to Pakistan before Eid apparently to got her adapted with Pakistani culture.

Since then they have been under one roof, of course, with their relatives are with them too.

“We should have a bit softer stance, but Islamic traditions should not be violated,” Amina Masood Janjua, the lady working for the cause of missing person, said.

She went on saying, “Without our traditions, we are nothing. Being a national hero, Wasim should avoid such kind of thing. He could keep his fiancee at someone else’s house instead of his house.
