Islamabad: Pakistani viewers have expressed varied feelings about airing of Turkish dramas on local TV channels.
In a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “How much do you like these (Turkish) dramas personally?” Responding to this, 26 percent claim that they highly like these Turkish dramas, 67 percent have mixed feelings about them whereas 6 percent dislike these dramas. However, 1 percent did not give a view.
In a follow up question, the respondents were asked “In your opinion, do these dramas have positive impact on our society, negative impact or is there no impact?” Responding to this, 22 percent believe that these dramas have positive impact on our society, 42 percent believe it impacts negatively while 32 percent believe them to make no difference at all. However, 4 percent did not give a view.
The survey was carried out among a sample of 2510 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during December 11, 2012 – December 17, 2012.
